What Nanny checks do you carry out?

We invite all applicants for an in-person or virtual interview with us, during which we dig deep into their competencies, qualifications, and experience. We examine original documents to verify their identity, right-to-work / visa requirements, enhanced criminal record certification, any professional registrations, licences, and request detailed information on their references. We look for appropriate skills and experience as well as their levels of application, interests, and personality. Finally, we speak to former employers and academic references to confirm their employment history, qualifications & references.

Criminal Record Checks - What is an Enhanced DBS?

An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in the UK examines the comprehensive criminal history of an individual to determine their suitability for working with vulnerable adults and children. While it is not legally compulsory for nannies in the UK to have a DBS check, it is considered a standard requirement for employment in this profession.

Overseas applicants need to provide valid certificates of good conduct from the relevant authorities of any country where they have lived for 12 months or more in the last 5 years before the date of a job application, provided they were aged 18 or over during that time.

If a candidate has lived and worked in other countries, it is standard practice for them to provide up-to-date and valid certificates of good conduct from the relevant embassies, police departments, or government authorities.

Can I book a trial day with my Nanny?

Yes. It's always a good idea for the family and nanny to arrange at least one trial day before committing to an engagement. We can provide more information about the importance during our individual client consultations.
